Commemoration: there is no time for the brave, Arras

The 93rd anniversary of the Third Battle of Arras, which began April 9, 1917, was celebrated yesterday at 6 am 30 the time when young British soldiers launched their attack. ...

Nearly 300 people attended including some representatives of families of veterans and the English ambassador to New Zealand, Sarah Dennis. Jean-Marie Prestaux, director of the Tourist Office of Arras, is first and success. Duty to remember and need to know the site to the general public are not contradictory.

Wellington's career is indeed part of the underground network that was confined almost 26 000 soldiers under British command, on the eve of the attack, a diversion that preceded the tragic attack on the Chemin des Dames. This place, which annually receives more than 40,000 visitors, restores some of the privacy of the soldiers on the eve of the offensive and has many stories, often enriched by a network of enthusiasts and families of soldiers who participated the battle.

The place also hosts an exhibition that presents a work by New Zealand artist Helen Pollock. Arms of clay emerging from soil soaked, evoking the sacrifice of soldiers. Like this commemoration: moving!
