Fibromyalgia More Condition_symptoms

Q

Here is a selection of questions we have received and which we have not always taken the time to respond at the moment . We say, however, that these responses can now serve others:

Building your stove mass was it difficult? That did it take long? What difficulty on a scale of 1 to 10 compared to the rest of the renovation? How long (in man-WeekEnd like you) to achieve?
The construction was very long and difficult. It lasted seven months, with no bumps on weekends, and yet not all, but still ... We locate the difficulty of this construction in 8 / 10 compared to the rest of the renovation. It was clearly the most complicated and longest of the renovation. We believe having spent 30 man weekend.
Where did you find the plans of your stove?
a Finn with whom we had contact we have emails. They were taken from the book "The Finnish Fireplace Construction Manual", Heikki Hyytiäinen and Albert Barden, book unfortunately not found in France.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this mode of heating?
Advantages:
  • The radiant heat is nice, it heats objects and stone walls of our house.
  • can open the door without external heat loss.
  • There is no air currents, which is ideal for allergy sufferers.
  • The temperature is well distributed in the room.
Disadvantages:
  • Make fire every day, 1-2 times a day (but it can also become a treat!). Once you miss one day, it takes a little time to get a good heat because it does not come up to temperature quickly.
  • The stove does not heat the floors.
How connected the casing of the chimney to the stove?
The casing is connected to the pan to the stove (we had no place to put it behind), with an early lead brick square, which is being fitted in the tube, the seal is made of refractory concrete .

What choice would you have done instead of refractory cement if you had been able to prevent cracking?
We would have used the grog, but we could not find at the time, even on command.

I have concerns about the effectiveness of radiation to fight against humidity, significant in Britain. I heard that this was not the strong point of PdM. Have you had any info on this?
Our house is really not wet, for us there is no worries.
When you talk about pure cement lintel, that means no added minerals (like sand to a mortar, or other ...)?
This means that the lintel was cast with a mixture of alumina cement beads associated with vermiculite.
What surface and volume heat up and how many floors?
Our ground floor is 55m ², with ceilings 2m70 tall. The staircase is open on the first floor, which is not too much of a problem because there is very little convection. We have a second floor attic.
The stove used to heat the ground floor, but for other parts, you need a supplement.
Is it possible to burn only pallets in a masonry heater?
We currently burn wood non-coniferous but very very dry, which burns very strong. At first, I think you can not burn pallets that we have not tried. The pipe does not foul at all, every year we ramonons by security, but there is nothing! Moreover, the white brick fireplace remain, and the door, transparent, has never been cleaned!
We are always looking for a supplier of glass doors and hatches for ventilation mass stoves. Can you give us information?
We bought a home iron, the least expensive (157 €), located in every hardware store. In fact, it can be dismantled into several parts, so we have kept the door with its frame, the ash with vent and grille on the inside. We also bought some cast iron trap (All DIY stores as well) for sweeping.
Can tell us some feedback now that you're back on the operation of the stove? Ideas for wood consumption, temperatures returned after 12h, 18h, 24h?
We usually an outbreak of 10kg par24h when it's between 7 and 12 ° C, 2 outbreaks per 24 hours when it's minus 7 degrees and the room is comfortable.
Where did you find the 300 bricks at this price?
We found the brick QCM (Quintinie Countertop Materials), material supplier construction Lanvollon ( www.cqm -22.com). And
to contact us directly: hannahiss@yahoo.fr .
